FG ready to negotiate release of Chibok girls with Boko Haram, Buhari says

The Federal Government is prepared to negotiate with Boko Haram to secure the release of the 200-plus Chibok schoolgirls kidnapped last year, if credible leaders are identified, President Muhammadu Buhari said on Wednesday.

“We are prepared to negotiate with them without any preconditions,” Buhari told selected journalists during his very first Presidential Media Chat.

Boko Haram seized the girls from their dormitories in Chibok, Borno State in April 2014 sparking international outrage.

Buhari, however, said there was no firm intelligence on the whereabouts of the girls or whether they are still alive.
